DEAR LGP FAMILY & FRIENDS-
Congratulations are in order to Director Jason Johnson and the entire company of our opening show this season, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Audiences thrilled to its haunting melodies and visual impact. Folks are still talking about the spectacular stained glass window! Congratulations again for a terrific beginning of our 2017-18 season!
Director Jason Koonce and company are busy putting together our second show of the 2017-18 season, David Lindsay-Abaire’s quirky comedy, “Ripcord,” a comic tale of two senior adversaries. I don’t want to give away too much, but I know that you will all love this thoroughly enjoyable, funny, funny show!
Another big “thank you” goes out to all the board members and volunteers who made our annual ghost story tour, Haunted Happenings, such a great success! Several hundred folks traipsed around downtown Lebanon on October 20 and 21 to hear our talented story tellers regale them with tales designed to scare, entertain, and thoroughly delight Halloween lovers of all ages! For many, this has become as much of a holiday tradition as “A Christmas Carol,” and we hope to see even more of you come out next year.
Auditions are just around the corner for our winter musical, “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson,” on Saturday, December 9, at 1:00 at the theater. Director, Gigi Dowling Urban, likes to remind us that before there was “Hamilton,” there was “Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson.” This musical may not be for everyone, but it is a hard charging, rock n’ roll chronicle of our equally controversial 7th president.
Elections for the LGP Board of Directors were held at our October meeting. Joining me on the board for three year terms are: Gigi Dowling Urban, Ernie Lingo, Sharon Russell, and Michelle Pfau. By the way, our board is made up of some of the hardest working volunteers in our area, so next time, you see one of them selling tickets or mopping the floor, please give them a big thank you for all their efforts to make the Playhouse one of the most successful community theaters in our neck-of-the-woods!
It’s also not too late to start thinking about “A Christmas Carol” which is set for December 7, 8, 9, and 10, 2017. This holiday classic, which is still only $5.00, sells out quickly and tickets will go on sale immediately after “Ripcord” closes. And just a reminder that the best seats in the house for “A Christmas Carol” are those onstage! It is a great “beginning theater” experience for children and families with a minimal commitment of rehearsal time. If you are interested. please check our Facebook page for further information or email the director, Gigi Dowling Urban, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Rehearsals commence the Sunday after Thanksgiving and being part of the company is a wonderful way to “get into the holiday spirit.”
The LGP will also be represented at Lebanon’s Victorian Holidays Celebration on November 17 and 18. Playhouse carolers will stroll up and down the “brick street” on Friday and Saturday night sharing Christmas cheer as busy shoppers get a “head-start” on their holiday shopping. The fun starts at sundown (also Sunday afternoon), so check in with the Chamber of Commerce website for further information!
Season tickets are also still available at prorated prices for the remaining 4 shows. Please call 618-537-4962 for further information or check in with our ticket staff in the concession area during our fall show. It is also a great time to purchase LGP gift certificates as gifts and stocking stuffers for your family and friends for the upcoming holiday season. Happy Holidays to you all!
See you at the theater!
