DEAR LGP FAMILY & FRIENDS-
Get your tickets now for the final show of the 2016-17 season, “Titanic.” Extraordinary music and a stirring story of the brave men, women, and children aboard this doomed ship make it a powerful end to a great season!
Building on this excitement will be the auditions for our Summer Youth Show, the wonderful classic “Peter Pan Jr.” which will be on Saturday, May 6, at 1:00! Young people from 6-18 are invited to come out for our annual all-kid event! Performances are June 29, 30, and July 1 and 2, 2017. Ticket demand is always strong for this summer spectacular, so, as we did last year, there are 5 performances. Come see some of our area’s most talented youngsters bring these characters to life!
Kudos to hardworking director, Jason Koonce, and the entire cast and crew of “Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike.” Our audiences had a delightful time at this quirky comedy.
Congratulations are also in order to the folks who put together our successful Trivia Night on
April 8. Special thanks to Roger Schlueter, Elaine Laws (of Althoff) and all of our friends and board members who wrote questions, scored answer sheets, set up tables, sold concessions, and completed all the hard work associated with this fundraiser. We raised about $1200.00 to support Playhouse projects.
Actually, many thanks to all of you who purchase raffle tickets for each show’s fundraisers. Those small donations add up fast and are a significant support for all our show and building expenses. Karen Lee Maloney has spearheaded many of these raffles so when you see her hawking her tickets (often with Elyse Gillespie or one of the other theater kids), please give her a special thank
you (and of course a dollar or two for a ticket!) Those pies are delicious!
Our ticket folks are also busy preparing your season ticket renewal notices. Get a head start by renewing or purchasing your new 2017-18 season tickets during each performance of “Titanic.” Season ticket holders who do not renew at that time, can pick up their notice and mail it in at a later time! The blockbuster 2017-18 season tentatively includes Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame; Almost Maine; Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson; Ripcord ; and a to-be-announced spring musical. Please remember, though, that we are still awaiting confirmation from NYC for our season. We will be sure to let you know as soon as possible on our final slate!
We will be accepting applications for our Looking Glass Playhouse Scholarship program, including the Playhouse Scholarship, and the Bill and Pam Winslow and Don Urban Memorial Scholarships through June 10. In a departure from past years, young people active at the Playhouse should complete an application online. Directions and application materials and criteria can be found under the “Get Involved” tab at lookingglassplayhouse.com.
In other summertime news, we will be reprising our production of “Rocky Horror Picture Show” the last weekend in July. If you are an adult (or mature teen with parental approval) interested in joining the chorus and participating in this exciting summer fundraiser, please email the director, Gigi Dowling Urban at email@example.com. Rehearsals will commence following the kids’ show this summer. “Just a jump to the left….”
See you at the theater!
